Work involved recruitment of seamen and officers for various reputed international principals. Liaison with Mumbai Port Trust and customs for berthing of ships and related activities. Organizing meetings with Stevedores and transporters and execution of work related to import and export of break bulk cargo, containers, and lash ships.
M/s. Darabshaw B. Cursetjee & Sons Pvt.Ltd. - 1981 to 1988, as Manager.Work involved Planning and co-ordination prior to the berthing of the vessel, along with agents and transporters. Close monitoring and planning for discharging and loading of cargo as required by the master of the vessel. Active participation at all levels of Govt. of India with regards to shipping and allied activities.
M/s. Natvar Parekh Industries Ltd. (NPIL) 1988 to 1999, as Executive Director.Reporting to the Board of Directors. The main divisions were Shipping Agency, Marine Division, Clearing and Forwarding and the managing the Container Terminal. NPIL was the first to have received the contract for handling containers at the prestigious JNPT. The Marine division had the expertise to handle various types of ODC consignments. The container terminal with state of the art infrastructure facilities and manned by qualified IICL personnel, forged ahead as NUMBER ONE in India. Almost all reputed Leasing and Shipping companies were then utilising the services of NPIL.
M/s. D.R.Container Terminal - 1999 to 2002 - Chief Executive.The above firm is a part of Dewanchand Group of companies and they own and operate a large fleet of trucks, trailers, top-lifters, cranes etc. for the last 70 yrs. Having contracts with government agencies including Mumbai Port and JNPT. The CONTAINER TERMINAL had the privilege of having agreements with shipping companies of international repute for Storage, Handling and M & R activites. I have since Aug. 2002 branched off and I started my own firm SABARI CONTAINER TERMINALS PRIVATE LIMITED to render logistic services to the shipping industry.
